| Naturopathy
is a system of medicine, where treatment relies
exclusively on natural remedies. The treatments
are based on the 5 elements of nature, Air, Space,
Earth, Fire, and Water or Panchamahabhutas. These
elements in their natural form help to relieve
ailments, along with proper diet and exercise.
Naturopathy
is based on the belief that the body has the power
to heal and repair itself and recover from illnesses
spontaneously, if, in a healthy environment. Here,
the body is considered a whole and emphasis is
on the patient’s physical, mental and emotional
level.
GOLDEN
PALMS SPA INCORPORATES THE FOLLOWING NATUROPATHY
THERAPIES
HYDROTHERAPY
OR AQUA THERAPY: Water healing is one
of the oldest and safest methods for treating
many common ailments. We know from personal experience,
that water is not just for cleansing, but for
healing as well. A dip into that tub of hot water,
after a strenuous day, relieves fatigue and prevents
stiffness.
Patients with long-term circulatory problems benefit
most through hydrotherapy, since it stimulates
the body cells. Lymphatic fluid reaches the cells
more quickly, which means that minerals and vitamins
from food reach their destination sooner. The
removal of toxins is accelerated.
There is another
side to hydrotherapy which cannot be evaluated
scientifically and that concerns the effect on
the mind.
Types
of Aqua Therapies:
Cleansing therapies:
Rectal irrigation: Enema or rectal irrigation
is a method where we inject fluid with the help
of a catheter; it is useful in cleansing the rectum
of the accumulated faecal matter. This improves
the peristaltic movement of the bowels and thereby
relieves constipation
Baths:
It can be varied in temperatures like cold, hot
and neutral in a specially designed tubs
1-Hipbath
or sitz bath: Hipbaths are given at cold,
neutral and hot temperatures in a special Hipbath
tub. The tub is filled with enough water to cover
the hips and reaches the navel of the patient.
Indications – Constipation, indigestion,
piles, urinary problems, menstrual problems.
2-Spinal
bath: Spinal baths are given in tubs
specially made for them. Its given in hot, cold
and neutral temperatures. A perforated tube is
provided at the centre of the tub in order that
the constantly emanating ascending jet will give
a gentle massage to the whole spinal column. Indicated
- High blood pressure, fatigue, mental disorders,
sleeplessness, loss of memory, tensions
4- Immersion bath: Its also know
as full bath where the patient will dip all of
his body in the tub. Indication – fever,
hypertension, obesity, arthritis
5- Foot
and Arm bath: Foot and arm baths are
intended to increase blood circulation or lessen
it. Thus, the monitored blood circulation can
produce warmth, sweating or reduce the temperature
of a particular path. In these baths, either the
arms or feet, or both, are immersed in the water
inside the tubs to above the elbow and calf muscles
respectively, sitting on a stool
6-Steam
Inhalation- Facial steam gives tremendous
and immediate relief and is recommended incase
of Sinusitis, cold, tonsillitis and in asthmatic
conditions
7-Steam
bath- is a powerful treatment to eliminate
the morbid matter from the surface of the skin
a condition sometimes known as “constipation
of the skin” indicated in case of arthritis,
uric acid problems & obesity
8-Sauna
bath-Sauna bath chambers are improved
replacements of the old Turkish bath chambers.
The cabin is specially made of pinewood; Dry steam
comes out, as in case of steam bath; it’s
the moist steam. Indicated in case of chronic
disorders, toxemia, Sciatica and lumbago
9-Hydro
bath or Underwater pressure bath-This
is the latest addition to hydrotherapeutics By
this application, the body gets influenced not
only with the temperature of water, but also by
the percussion movement which is made on the periphery
with a strong water jet. So it is just like a
water massage Indicated in paralysis, Obesity,
Indigestion, insomnia, Tired muscles Arthritis,
and Sciatica
10-Fountain
of Spring (Affusion Shower)
Seven showerheads are placed above the chakra
points along your spine to create a soothing hydrotherapy
massage. The water is both comforting and nourishing.
An esoteric experience likened to being under
a waterfall that leaves you feeling invigorated
yet balanced.
2. ACUPUNCTURE--ACUPRESSURE
Acupuncture and acupressure are natural healing
systems developed by the Chinese and successfully
practiced in their culture for centuries. Acupuncture
as a technique, is used to unblock and redirect
energy flow through the insertion of needles along
with the use of the thumb for pressure –
Acupressure – at key points of the body
to balance energies. Many of the places where
needles are inserted have no nerve endings. It
is based on the occult system of Taoism often
called yin and yang chi of ki, a common force
that flows through the universe
These specific
points run along what are called meridians (zones).
There are 12 meridians or zones corresponding
with different organs of the body, the meridians
run up and down the body from head to toe.
Disease occurs
when the body’s energy flow becomes unbalanced.
Long very fine needles are inserted at specific
points of the body, or fingertip stimulation is
used to bring the energy flow into balance &
release blockages. This allows the energy of the
universe to flow freely (chi) giving health to
the body. Acupressure was invented for those afraid
of needles.
3. REIKI:
Reiki, a Japanese word, usually translates as
universal life energy. Rei (spirit), Ki (energy).
The Practice of Reiki is an art coupled with a
scientific system wherein the cosmic energy available
in the universe is directed towards rendering
good health or curing sickness or disease in an
individual. This cosmic power keeps the entire
universe intact and is present in every living
being and is directed scientifically to the practitioner
Reiki stimulates the system
and regulates the function of the body, mind and
soul resulting in healing of all diseases and
discomfort in a natural way
4. REFLEXOLOGY:
Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy that works
on the feet or hands enabling the body to heal
itself. Following illness, stress, injury or disease,
it is in a state of "imbalance", and
vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing
the body from functioning effectively. Reflexology
can be used to restore and maintain the body's
natural equilibrium and encourage healing.
A Reflexologist
uses his hands to apply pressure to the feet.
For each person the application and the effect
of the therapy is unique. Sensitive, trained hands
can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the
feet, and by working on these points the Reflexologist
can release blockages and restore the free flow
of energy to the whole body. Tensions are eased,
and circulation and elimination is improved. This
gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself,
often counteracting a lifetime of misuse.
5.
YOGA
In practice, yoga is an
applied science of the mind and body. It comes
from the Hindu vedas (scriptures). Its practice
and study helps to bring about a natural balance
of body and mind in which the state of health
can manifest itself. Yoga itself does not create
health; rather, it creates an internal environment
that allows the individual to come to his own
state of dynamic balance, or health. Basically,
yoga teaches that a healthy person is a harmoniously
integrated unit of body, mind and spirit.
Yoga becomes
a philosophy that offers instruction and insight
into every aspect of life: the spiritual, the
mental and the physical. Yoga considers that most
diseases are due to insufficient life force, either
in the body as a whole, or a blockage of life
force to one part of the body. This leads to a
lowered body resistance or immunity to disease.
When the whole body has lowered life force, the
result is a lowered vitality level, poor health
and susceptibility to infection. The best way
to increase the general life force of the body
is by good nutrition, sufficient deep steep, a
positive mental attitude and yoga.
Along with physical activities even mental modulation
is important with breathing exercises and meditation
Kapalabhathi:
The process of cleaning the windpipe
is one of the shuddhikriyas. The word kapalbhati
is made up of two words, kapal meaning skull (here
skull includes all the organs under the skull
too) and bhati means shining, illuminating.. In
this process of Kapalbhati, the carbon dioxide
is thrown out of the body in large quantity and
similarly in the same proportion, the oxygen is
absorbed into the body
Jalanethi:
The cleaning of the nasal path is known
as Jalnetineti. The aim of the process is to purify
the breathing path right from the nostrils to
the throat. This cleansing process helps to relive
cold, cough, and sinusitis
6. MEDITATION:
Meditation is a safe and simple way to balance
a person's physical, emotional, and mental states.
Meditation purifies the mind and restores the
spirit's primal powers by withdrawing all distracting
thoughts and disturbing emotions from the mind.
7.
PRANAYAMA: Breathing is important for
two reasons. It is the only means to supply our
bodies and its various organs with the supply
of oxygen, which is vital for our survival. The
second function of breathing is that it is one
means to get rid of waste products and toxins
from the body. Different breathing techniques
help to improve the quality of the blood, increase
the digestion capacity and assimilation of food,
improve the health of the nervous system, rejuvenate
the glands and the skin.
